September News

September was a quieter month for us as we gathered ourselves before the swing of our Autumn 2026 season.

Young Artist Programme 2027

September saw the deadline for our Young Artist Programme applications, and we were overwhelmed by the number of wonderful singers who applied. Thank you to everyone who took the time to send us their applications! Auditions took place on 12th October, and we are now in the process of offering places. We’ll share an update as soon as everything is finalised, and we can’t wait to introduce our brand new cohort of Young Artists to you all.

Chelsea Arts Festival

Two of our wonderful singers, soprano Ceferina Penny and tenor Robert Forrest, took to the open air in Sloane Square as part of the Chelsea Arts Festival. Together they performed a brilliant programme of operatic favourites for members of the public. A joy to see opera brought out onto the streets for everyone to enjoy.

We were lucky enough to capture Ceferina singing “Quando m’en vo” from La bohème – how fortunate the people of Chelsea were to stumble upon such glorious music that day!

Young Artist News

Elsewhere, our Young Artists have been launching into their own Autumn seasons:

  • Nancy Holt (mezzo-soprano) performed Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, in collaboration with the Oxford International Song Festival. We’re sure Nancy gave a stunning performance of this magnificent work!

  • Simon Mascarenhas Carter (tenor) made his debut as a Young Artist with the Wiener Staatsoper in their Opera Studio Matinee on 27th September. Simon has a busy schedule ahead of him at the Opera Studio, and we wish him every success for the 26/27 season.

  • Hector Bloggs (baritone) also made his way to Germany this month to begin his tenure as a Young Artist with the Bayerische Staatsoper Opera Studio.

We’re so proud of our Young Artists who have broken into the Opera Studio circuit – we know they’ll use it as a springboard into long and flourishing careers. Viel Erfolg to our singers in Germany and Austria!
