Italian symphonic and operatic conductor Renato Balsadonna has held long-term positions as Chorus Director at both the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, appointed by Music Director Antonio Pappano. At the Royal Opera House he has conducted I due Foscari, Nabucco and Madama Butterfly.
He has worked widely as a guest conductor with leading opera houses and orchestras, including Frankfurt Opera (Don Carlo, Lucia di Lammermoor), Teatro Verdi Trieste (La Bohème), Opéra de Nice (Tosca, Norma), the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and Dallas Opera, as well as with the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has recently enjoyed great success conducting Nabucco and Lucrezia Borgia at the Mariinsky Theatre, leading to immediate reinvitations by Valery Gergiev. Engagements through 2026 include La Traviata for Cincinnati Opera and further international projects.
